Terms of use
Last updated 19 August 2026
1. What this covers
These terms cover the LeaveSafe application and the account service behind it, both operated by SoftBlock Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Using either means agreeing to them. If you do not, do not use them — the open-source daemon below works without either.
2. The open-source part
The LeaveSafe daemon — the program that reads the sensors on your machine — is published under the Apache License 2.0 and is free. Nothing in these terms takes away a right that licence grants you, and nothing here applies when you run the daemon without an account. The paid tier described on this site does not close any part of it.
3. An account
An account is a sixteen-digit key. There is no e-mail address, no password and no recovery: if you lose the key, the account is gone and we cannot return it to you. That is a property of the design rather than a policy — we hold a hash of the key, not the key — and it is the price of an account that carries no identity.
Keep the key to yourself. Anyone holding it is, as far as the service can tell, you.
4. What you may not do
- Attack the service, or try to reach an account that is not yours.
- Work around the rate limits, or automate registration.
- Use LeaveSafe to watch a machine you have no right to watch, or a person. It is a device monitor, and using it to observe somebody without their knowledge is both outside these terms and likely outside the law where you are.
- Resell the service, or present it as your own.
5. Pro
A paid tier is announced on this site at five US dollars a month. It is not open yet. No payment is taken, no subscription can be started, and nothing on this site or in the application creates an obligation on either of us in relation to it. When it opens, its terms will be published here first, and the price and what it includes may differ from what is announced today.
6. No warranty
LeaveSafe is offered as it is, without warranty of any kind. Understand what it is: a monitor, not a guarantee. It can tell you that something changed. It cannot stop anyone from taking your machine, it depends on sensors your operating system may not expose, on a network that may drop, and on a phone that may be asleep — and the free version cannot reach you at all once you leave the network. Do not rely on it as your only protection for anything you cannot afford to lose.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, SoftBlock Solutions Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for a device that was taken while LeaveSafe was or was not running. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Changes, and ending it
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did, and continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. You may stop at any time by deleting your account — see deleting your account. We may end an account that is being used to attack the service, and will say why where we can.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, nor any right you have to bring a claim there.
